或曰寶鼎元年十二月，凱與大司馬丁奉、御史大夫丁固謀，因皓謁廟，欲廢皓立孫休子。 Some say that in the twelfth month of Baoding 1 Lu Kai plotted with Grand Marshal Ding Feng and Censor-in-chief Ding Gu to use Sun Hao's temple visit to depose him and install Sun Xiu's son.

《吴录》曰：旧拜庙，选兼大将军领三千兵为卫，凯欲因此兵以图之，令选曹白用丁奉。 The Wu Lu states: On old temple visits an acting grand general with three thousand troops served as escort; Lu Kai meant to use those troops for the plot and had the selection bureau propose Ding Feng.

凯令执据，虽蹔兼，然宜得其人。 Lu Kai pressed his case; though Feng was temporarily appointed acting commander, the right man still had to be found.

平素与丁奉有隙，祎未及得宣凯旨，平语祎曰：「闻野猪入丁奉营，此凶徵也。」 Ping had long been at odds with Ding Feng; before Yi could deliver Lu Kai's message, Ping told him, "I hear a wild boar entered Ding Feng's camp—a bad omen."
