敵以輪船襲泥城，副將岱昌等聞砲先遁，毀師船六十有奇，城外東西砲台並陷。 The enemy sent steamers against Nicheng. Deputy Commander Dai Chang and others fled at the first cannonade; more than sixty government war junks were lost, and the batteries east and west of the city were taken.
