錯父聞之，從穎川來，謂錯曰：「上初即位，公為政用事，侵削諸侯，疏人骨肉，口讓多怨，公何為也？」 Chao Cuo's father rode from Yingchuan and said, "The new emperor trusts you, yet you strip the kings and set brother against brother—the whole realm will curse your name. Why?"

父曰：「劉氏安矣，而晁氏危，吾去公歸矣！」 "The Lius will thrive," he said, "but our clan is finished—I am going home."

其父睹之，經於溝瀆，亡益救敗，不如趙母指括，以全其宗。 His father chose suicide in a ditch—a useless gesture beside Zhao Kuo's mother, who denounced her son to save the family.

錯父聞之，從潁川來，謂錯曰：「上初即位，公為政用事，侵削諸侯，別疏人骨肉，人口議多怨公者，何也？」 When Cuo's father heard of this, he came from Yingchuan and said to Cuo, 'The Emperor has only just come to the throne, and you are the one directing affairs of state. You encroach upon the feudal lords, reduce their lands, and drive a wedge between the Emperor's own kin. People everywhere are speaking against you with resentment. Why?'
