素善岑春煊，春煊入朝，留長郵傳部。 He had long been close to Cen Chunxuan, who on entering court was kept on to head the Ministry of Posts and Communications.

密疏劾慶親王奕劻，奕劻惡春煊，遂及鴻禨。 In a secret memorial he impeached Prince Qing Yikuang; Yikuang hated Cen Chunxuan, and Hongji was drawn into the feud.
