初，朵兒只为集贤学士，从其从兄丞相拜住在上都。 Earlier, when Duo'erzhi was academician of the Hall of Gathered Worthies, he followed his cousin by the mother's side, Chief Councilor Baizhu, at the Upper Capital.

南坡之变，拜住遇害。 In the Nampa Incident Baizhu was killed.

拜住，从父也，请于仁宗，降玺书护其家。 Baizhu, his cousin by the mother's side, asked Emperor Renzong for an imperial letter to protect his household.

及拜住為左丞相，與帖木迭兒各樹朋黨，賊害忠良，思明懼禍及，累表辭，不獲，後竟誣以不支蒙古子女口糧，餓死四百人，遂廢於家，杜門六年。 When Bayiju became Left Chancellor, he and Temür Odjir each built factions and destroyed loyal ministers. Fearing he would be caught up in the purge, Siming repeatedly asked to resign but was refused. He was eventually framed on the charge that four hundred Mongol children had starved because he failed to supply their rations. Dismissed to his home, he lived behind closed doors for six years.

中書左丞相拜住屢言世延亡辜，得旨出獄，就舍以養疾。 Left Chancellor Bayiju repeatedly declared Shiyan innocent; an order released him from prison to recover at home.

帖木迭兒在上京，聞世延出獄，索省牘視之，怒曰：「此左丞相罔上所為也。」 Temuder was at Shangdu. Learning that Shiyan had been released, he demanded the Secretariat records and said angrily, "The left chancellor deceived the sovereign in this."

冬十月，英宗親祀太廟，以中書左丞相拜住為亞獻官，鐵失為終獻官。 In the tenth month of winter Emperor Yingzong sacrificed in person at the Imperial Ancestral Temple, with central left chancellor Bayiju as secondary offering officer and Tie Shi as final offering officer.

時鐵木迭兒既死，罪惡日彰，英宗委任拜住為右丞相，振立紀綱，修舉廢墜，以進賢退不肖為急務。 By then Temuder was dead and his crimes were coming to light. Emperor Yingzong put Bayiju in charge as right chancellor to restore order, revive neglected institutions, and make promoting the worthy and removing the unfit his top priority.

是夕，鐵失與知樞密院事也先鐵木兒、大司農失禿兒、前中書平章政事赤斤鐵木兒、前雲南行省平章政事完者、前治書侍御史鎖南、鐵失之弟宣徽使鎖南、典瑞院使脫火赤、樞密副使阿散、僉書樞密院事章台、衞士禿滿，及諸王按梯不花、孛羅、月魯鐵木兒、曲律不花、兀魯思不花等，以鐵失所領阿速衞兵為外應，殺右丞相拜住，而鐵失直犯禁幄，手弒英宗于臥所。 That night Tie Shi, together with privy council administrator Yesen Timur, Minister of Revenue Shitu'er, former central pingzhang Chijin Timur, former Yunnan pingzhang Wanzhe, former associate censor Suonan, Tie Shi's younger brother Huizheng commissioner Suonan, Ceremonial Regalia Court commissioner Tuohuochi, privy council vice director Asan, privy council secretary Zhangtai, guard Tumian, and the princes Atibuhua, Boluo, Yuelu Timur, Qulvuhua, and Ulusibuhua, used Tie Shi's Asud guards as accomplices, killed right chancellor Bayiju, then burst into the forbidden tent and personally assassinated Emperor Yingzong in his sleeping quarters.
