其兄景裕為當時碩儒，謂辯曰：「昔侍中注《小戴》，今爾注《大戴》，庶纂前修矣。」 His elder brother Jingyu, a leading scholar of the day, told Bian: “Long ago the Attendant-in-Chief annotated the Younger Dai’s Record of Rites; now you annotate the Elder Dai’s—you will be continuing the labors of those who came before.”
