三月，復命如山東會巡撫阿里袞治賑。 In the third month he was again sent to Shandong to join Governor Aligun in famine relief.

時阿里袞以副將軍主軍事，上並授阿桂副將軍、舒赫德參贊大臣，命舒赫德先赴雲南，與阿里袞籌畫進軍。 Aligun led as deputy commander; Agui and Shuhede were appointed to assist, and Shuhede went first to Yunnan with Aligun to plan.

上初命阿里袞造舟濟師，阿里袞等言崖險澗窄不宜舟，傍江亦無造舟所。 The emperor had ordered boats built; Aligun said the cliffs and streams forbade it and there was no shipyard.

上又命三泰、傅顯往視，言與阿里袞等同。 Santai and Fuxian were sent to inspect and agreed with Aligun.

哈國興將水師，阿桂、阿里袞將陸師，阿桂出江東，阿里袞出江西。 Ha Guoxing led the fleet; Agui and Aligun the land forces—Agui east of the river, Aligun west.

阿里袞亦破西岸緬兵，傅恆以所獲纛進。 Aligun broke the west-bank Burmese as well, and Fu Heng sent up the captured banners.

上復為賦詩，阿里袞感瘴而病，改將水師，旋卒。 The emperor wrote another poem; Aligun took miasma fever, switched to the fleet, and soon died.

沙拉斯、嗎唬斯既降复叛，掠台站，上命滿福自阿勒輝往剿，又令巴里坤辦事大臣阿里袞帥師與會。 Shalasi and Mahusi had surrendered but rebelled again and raided the courier stations. The emperor ordered Man Fu to move from Alehui against them and directed minister resident at Barkul Arigun to bring troops to join the operation.

阿里袞未至，滿福師次肯色嶺，與賊遇，擊之，賊敗走，偽遣人乞降，且言賊渠已就縛，請除道迎。 Before Arigun arrived, Man Fu's force halted at Kense Ridge, met the rebels, and drove them off. The enemy then sent men with a false offer of surrender, claiming their leader was already bound and asking that the road be cleared to receive them.

阿里袞解馬至，斌偕眾將夾擊，脅中創，仍力戰，賊大敗。 Arigun sent up fresh horses. Bin and the other generals attacked from both sides. Though wounded in the flank, he kept fighting until the rebels were routed.

大學士傅恆自請行，三十三年，以傅恆為經略，阿桂及阿里袞為副將軍，仍授阿桂兵部尚書、雲貴總督。 Grand Secretary Fu Heng offered to take the field himself; in the thirty-third year he was made commander-in-chief, with A Gui and Aligun as his deputies, while A Gui was again appointed Minister of War and governor-general of Yunnan-Guizhou.

阿里袞率舟師循江下； Aligun led the river fleet downstream;

老官屯守禦堅，軍士多病瘴，阿里袞卒於軍，复授阿桂副將軍。 Laoguantun held firm, malaria swept the ranks, Aligun died in camp, and A Gui was again made deputy commander.
